FALCON KING AUDITIONS!!!

Thank you for your interest in

auditioning for The Falcon King!

The piece features puppets made from found natural materials and tackles the environmental issue of DDT from the 1950s. You can read more and see photos here: FALCON KING

Performers will need an aptitude for puppeteering (experience not necessary, but we will be asking performers to operate some of the show’s puppets during auditions to gauge comfort level), and a strong acting ability as the piece uses diverse found text from a variety of sources. If you have a dramatic monologue prepared feel free to bring it, but you will also be asked to read some scenes opposite myself and/or other cast members at the audition. The production will be produced under the Actors Equity Showcase code, but you do not need to be a member to participate.

We are a small theater working with a Henson grant which basically pays for the theater rental and any ticket sales, so please forgive all the "around this amount" talk with the stipends, the budget is still being finalized and we always hope and strive to pay more!!!

AUDITIONS will be Monday 8/24 and Wednesday 8/26 in the afternoon / evening. Tuesday 8/25 is a possibility in the afternoon if neither of those times work for you!

SCHEDULE

Preparations for the full-length production begin with the P(at)CH residency in September, taking place at the La Mama rehearsal studios.

This week will be spent working on the play's overall arc and the puppetry of the characters. Scripts will be on music stands or read by me and other volunteers during the presentation.

Load-in rehearsal: Monday September 7th, 3-10pm (I understand this is Labor Day, please let me know your availability)

Rehearsal: Tuesday September 8th, 3-10pm

Rehearsal: Wednesday September 9th, 3-10pm

Rehearsal: Thursday September 10th, 3-10pm.

SHOWING: Friday September 11th, 3-10pm / presentation for invited guests, including feedback, will begin around 7:30

PLEASE NOTE: Preference for casting will be given to those who can attend a majority of these rehearsals. There will be a stipend for this week, most likely around $150.

We will then rehearse sporadically throughout September and October. We will begin gathering everyone's schedules as soon as I know the full cast. The stipend for these rehearsals will be around $150.

Rehearsals will continue into November, with possible heavier rehearsal loads from November 9th-25th. The stipend for these rehearsals will be around $200.

PLEASE NOTE: all these rehearsals will be held after 4pm and mostly after 6pm on weekdays and on weekend days. Rehearsals as of now will be at our Brooklyn studio.

Load-in to the theater will be Monday November 30th.

Tech will be Tuesday and Wednesday, December 1st and 2nd (we have access to the space from 12pm-10pm each day this week)

Wednesday evening will be a dress rehearsal

OPENING NIGHT: Thursday December 3rd! (or first preview depending on what our publicist advises...

Performances will be 12/3-12/13, Thursday - Saturday at 7pm and Sat/Sunday at 2pm (call times most likely one hour before)

The stipend for the tech/performances will be at least $250 but I'm hoping for significantly more (depending on fundraising and ticket sales).
