Philoctetes Stranded in one place for nine years due to a murderous thorn in his foot, Philoctetes torments every passerby that comes his way with his story of pain and suffering. Philoctetes was constructed by Gretchen Van Lente from foam, fabric, fur and buttons. The character of Philoctetes was adapted from an illustration by Lizbeth Zwerger from the book "The Wizard of Oz" (North South Books). The character in the book was one of the costumes that the Wizard used to scare the people of Oz with.
