Deborah Beshaw

bio:

Deborah has been puppeteering for five years now, ever since she walked into Los Kabayitos Puppet Theatre and decided she didn't want to leave. Since that moment, she has built stuff, sewed, run box office, swept floors and played many and interesting characters and creatures, from dancing rats at Los Kabayitos to a giant, samba-ing german shepherd for Puppeteers' Cooperative. She has worked extensively with the Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre (Ophelia, etc., in Hamlet; Pearl, the Rabbi's Wife, etc., in Golem at the Henson Festival; Mephistopheles in Faust at La MaMa among others); and Soup, with which she was delighted to be a part of The Napier Project which was presented last year under the auspices of Mabou Mines' Artist in Residence Project. She has recently branched out into cabaret, with her solo act, In A Sentimental Mood, performed last at The High Spirits Room on 46th Street.
